I am currently employed by Khato Holding (Pty) Ltd as Senior Manager: Legal Services from the 1st July 2015 to date. 

I have practiced and acquired experience in Labour law, Collections, drafting commercial contracts and pleadings, criminal, civil & Labour litigation and family law.
 
Currently in my capacity as Senior Manager: Legal Services, I am responsible for:

- Vetting and drafting of all commercial contracts within the company         
- Responsible for all company secretarial obligations in terms of the Companies Act        
- Chairing disciplinary proceedings on behalf of the company 
- Initiating disciplinary hearings on behalf of the company
- Appearing at the CCMA on behalf of the company 
- Manage all litigious matters on behalf of the company 
- Drafting legal opinions
- Briefing attorneys and advocates to act on behalf of the company when necessary
- Ensuring that our company complies with all necessary legislative prescripts
- Drafting and settling pleadings and applications for court proceedings

Previously in my capacity as Director: Strategic Planning Management, I was responsible for the following: 

a)      
Integrated Planning and Monitoring 
- Facilitate departmental strategic plans 
- Facilitate processes for the compilation of quarterly performance reports   

b)      Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation 
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation and achievement of departmental objectives 
- Develop, implement and maintain a monitoring and evaluation system
- Analyse and monitor strategic information 
- Monitor the implementation of departmental HR strategies (EE Plan, HR Plan, Strategic Plan and HR policies)
-Facilitate and conduct research on transformational special national programmes.
       
c)      Research and Policy Co – ordination 
- Co – ordinate policy development in the department 
- Set norms and standards for policy development 
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding policy development 
- Conduct benchmarking and best practices research.

Previously as Manager: Litigation and Regulatory Services at the Department of Roads and Public Works I was responsible for the following:

  • Manage all litigious matters against for and against the department
  • Drafting Legal opinions
  • Instructing attorneys and advocates to act on behalf of the department when necessary
  • Compiling and submitting the department’s contingent liability report
  • Drafting the PAIA i.t.o the PAIA Act
  • Submission of the necessary PAIA reports to the SAHRC on an annual basis
  • Supervise and manage all work done by my sub – ordinate who is the Legal Admin Officer in my unit
  • Ensuring our department’s compliance with the necessary legislative prescripts

Previously in my position as Justice Centre Executive  at the Legal Aid South Africa (Upington) I was responsible for the following:

  • Managing and Supervising twenty (20) admin and legal staff members which included Attorneys, Advocates, Paralegals and Candidate Attorneys.
  • Acting as Principal to Candidate Attorneys.
  • Managing the assets of the Justice Centre.
  • Drafting the budget of the Justice Centre.
  • Responsible for all financial controls of the Justice Centre.
  • Approving all necessary expenditure.
  • Responsible for all monthly reports.
  • Responsible for the training of all legal professional staff.
  • Interact with all relevant stake holders, which include the judiciary, prosecution, police, correctional services, NGO’s and CBO’s.
  • Responsible for the provision of legal aid in all courts in the Siyanda district, Kgalagadi district, part of Prixely Ka Seme district, Mothibistad etc.
  • Ensured compliance with the PFMA and all relevant legislation.
  • Responsible for performance reviews and management of  all staff reporting to me.
  • Fleet management.
  • Human Resource management.
  • Ensuring that all legal staff comply with the quality of legal files in the Justice Centre.

I also managed my own private attorneys practice.

In my position as Regional Legal Manager for Legal Aid South Africa (Free State and North West Provinces), I was responsible for the following:

  • Training of Candidate Attorneys in the employ of Legal Aid South Africa in the Free State/Northwest Provinces
  • Training of admitted practitioners in the employ of Legal Aid South Africa  in the Free/State/Northwest Provinces
  • Assessing the quality of legal work done by practitioners of Legal Aid South Africa in the Free State/ North West Provinces both in respect of pending files and court observations.
  • Ensure that justice centres within the region of the Free State/North West Provinces act in compliance with the organisational business plan and strategies.
